Maderas volcano tour

We pick you up at your hotel on Ometepe Island for this full day activity.

After picking you up at your hotel we travel to El Porvenir, an ecological farm with petroglyphs, beautiful gardens and there is one of the best trails to climb the volcano, this trail is the one that has the best viewpoint, offering a breathtaking view of the other side of the island: the Concepción volcano.   

This trail is an average of 6.5 kilometers long and will take an average of 8 hours round trip.

The main challenge when climbing Maderas volcano is the mud and mud that is found in some sections of the trail, in El Porvenir we start walking through fields of beans, rice and corn, if it is growing season, then we go through a dry tropical forest and later above 600 meters above sea level we walk under a rainforest, and then above 1000 meters above sea level we walk under a cloud forest. 

This is an extreme adventure and the trail is an exciting challenge for hikers.

This is a very special activity since the goal is to reach the top of the volcano, then enter the crater and find a lagoon there.
